Trimming changes the length, not the picture
To trim a video, or cut it, is to change where it starts and ends: you keep a stretch of time, drop the rest, and the picture stays exactly as it was. Cropping is something else. It cuts the edges off the frame to change its shape, and the length stays. This page trims, in one of two ways.

Trim a video without uploading it
Many online video trimmers upload your file to a server and cut it there. This one reads and cuts the video inside your browser, on your own device.
Unlike upload-based trimmers, Remove Audio never receives a video you trim on this device, so a family clip, a screen recording with your data on it or footage nobody should see yet stays yours. The Cloud is there for files your device cannot hold, and it uploads only when you switch to it.

Trim video without losing quality
A Quick cut does not touch the picture or the sound: it copies them into a shorter file. The one trade-off is where the clip can start, and that comes down to keyframes.
Lossless, from a keyframe
A video stores a full picture every so often, called a keyframe, and only the changes in between. A lossless cut has to begin on a keyframe, so Quick starts at the one at or before your start: usually less than a second early on phone video, sometimes several seconds on a screen recording. On this device, the editor shows the real start before you trim.
To the frame, encoded once
Exact starts on the very frame you chose and encodes only the part you keep, as H.264 at a high quality setting, so the clip keeps the look of the original. It takes longer, and the editor tells you roughly how long on your device before you start.

Fair note: because the cut runs on your device, a huge file depends on your browser's memory, and an Exact cut takes longer on a slow phone. The Cloud side of the switch takes the files this device cannot.
